The FSF Sisterhood recently sponsored a dropoff point for the NYCares Coat Drive, to collect coats for New Yorkers in need. Together, our congregation collected over 75 coats! That’s amazing! It just goes to show that a small gesture can make a big difference! Now children, women, and men in our city will have needed warmth in these cold months, in part because of the generous spirit of our congregation. Many thanks to everyone who participated. You helped change the world for someone who was facing being cold this winter. We would like to especially thank the ever-excellent Kate Bly for hauling our FIVE large bags of donated coats into Manhatttan to drop them off with NYCares!
When the FSF Sisterhood was looking for a charity to help people, we came across New Eyes, a nonprofit that helps people in need around the world to have the gift of sight. Being able to see is something that can be easy to take for granted, but for many impoverished people, it is a luxury they cannot afford. It is wonderful that our Sisterhood and congregation came together and donated thirty pairs of glasses which will now go to people, including children, who did not have access to vision correction before. Imagine being a child and finally being able to see clearly for the first time! Thank you so very much to everyone who participated in this drive. You truly helped to make a difference!
In the great tradition of sisterhoods everywhere, the FSF Sisterhood is compiling recipes for a congregational cookbook! Do you make amazing matzo-balls, fabulous falafel, or brilliant blintzes? We’d love to hear from you! Family recipes, your own inventions, and favorite adaptations all are welcome. Recipes don’t have to be traditionally Jewish, but we do ask that they can be made kosher. Allergy-friendly and gluten-free recipes are also in high demand! Once the cookbooks are compiled, the FSF Sisterhood will have them available for a nominal fee to help us raise funds for future Sisterhood-sponsored FSF events.
